Position Overview

Cumulus Media | Charleston is in search of a part-time Broadcasting Ops Summer Intern.  If you are looking to get a foot in the door to the radio industry, have an outgoing personality and have a passion for radio, this is a great opportunity for you!  

 

This job will consist of general office duties as well as going out into the community to interact with listeners and promote our stations. The internship will also expose you to all aspects of the radio business including sales and marketing, promotions and programming (on air).

 

Internship would start on or around May 11, 2026, and end on or around September 11, 2026.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

 

Promotions interns will be organized, detail-oriented, motivated self-starters looking to gain hands-on experience in the radio industry. Daily responsibilities include, and may not be limited to:

• Posting on station's Facebook, X.com, Instagram accounts
• Handling listener relations by contacting prize winners and prize fulfilment
• Maintaining a prize winner database
• Assembly and execution of contests and winner selection
• Organizing and filing prize winner information
• Writing copy and performing web updates
• Assisting the street team at various station events and appearances in the Charleston Area
• Assisting with compiling of client recaps
• Some graphic design
• Some Audio and possible video production
• Event preparation and some event coordination

Qualifications:

• Participation in accredited school internship program.
• No experience necessary, however Customer Service experience helpful
• Must be 18 years of age or older some college or small market radio experience preferred
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Reliable; have a flexible schedule and be available to work at least 15 hours per week,
• May require lifting or moving up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Outgoing, energetic, detail-oriented and responsible
• Proficient using computers and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Multi-tasking abilities
• Event experience a plus
• Strong Social Media skills with sites like Facebook, X.com, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok preferred
